BPW The Netherlands maakt deel uit van het internationale vrouwennetwerk; Business and Professional Women International. Deze organisatie heeft niet alleen in Nederland een afdeling, maar in zo'n honderd andere landen en telt wereldwijd meer dan 100.000 leden.

BPW International onderscheidt zich van andere vrouwennetwerken door haar invloedrijke positie in tal van organisaties. Zo heeft BPW als een van de weinige vrouwennetwerken:

1. een zetel met raadgevende status categorie 1 bij de United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC),
2. een raadgevende status bij verschillende andere VNorganisaties,
3. een permanente zetel in New York bij UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund)

en een afvaardiging bij:

• UNCTAD, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development,

• ILO, international Labour Organisation,

• WHO, World Health Organisation,

• UNIDO, United Nations Industrial Development Organisation,

• UNESCO, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation,

• FAO, Food and Agriculture Organisation.

Met vier andere internationale netwerken wordt nauw samengewerkt: Soroptimist International, Zonta International, the International Council of Women en de International Federation of University Women.
